Overview
New York based floral design practice Field Studies Flora approached us to develop a brand identity, website and printed materials that would reflect their progressive approach to floristry and position their work as both artistic practice and ecological philosophy.

Context
Founder Alex Crowder sought to move beyond the conventions of traditional floristry websites, creating instead a platform that could house her studio's portfolio while articulating their deeper philosophy of working with nature rather than against it. Drawing from historical horticultural publications, plant glossaries and garden almanacs, we developed a design language that honours the depth of knowledge and integrity inherent in Field Studies Flora's practice. The site functions as both a gallery of case studies and an educational resource, inviting visitors into a world where botanical understanding and artistic expression converge.

Typographic System
The visual identity and website design emphasise documentation and craft, mirroring the studio's meticulous approach to their work. A film by Scott Macdonough, shot in the fields of Massachusetts, unveils the homepage, setting the tone for work born from connection to the natural world. The printed materials extend this language, creating a cohesive system that supports Field Studies Flora's position at the intersection of horticulture, design and environmental stewardship. Typography and layout choices reference archival botanical texts, lending the contemporary practice a sense of scholarly rigor.
