Balancing thoughtful form with high function, a refreshed brand identity repositions multidisciplinary designer Bec Snelling’s namesake studio with a confident wordmark and website that equally functions as an informative e-commerce platform and product gallery.

When designer Bec Snelling evolved her multidisciplinary design studio from Douglas and Bec, a collaboration with her father, into her independent practice repositioned as Snelling, she invited us to develop a new identity to reflect the studio’s refreshed orientation. Having previously created the identity for Douglas and Bec, we imbued the wordmark of her new studio – reflecting her own last name – with the confidence and style of a signature.
Combining both portfolio and e-commerce functions, Snelling’s website was designed and built to offer her lighting and furniture customers an informative user experience, focusing on options for materials and finishes alongside configuration possibilities, pricing and lead times. High functionality is offset through the generous use of white space and archival-style typography in an image-led gallery format inviting exploration of the collection through hover-state functions that reflect the gestures of illumination.
Alongside brand identity and website design and development, we applied Snelling’s visual language across a variety of printed materials, including letterpress brand cards, print and installation graphics for use in exhibitions, and spec sheets conveying functional product information to customers, reinforcing the tactility and materiality of Bec’s work while enabling her to distinctly establish the renewed positioning of her practice.
